WOW! What a week it has been! We hosted a Vacation Bible School at a local Brazilian church and had LOTS of fun. Our team
split into three groups: arts & crafts, sports & games, and the group I was in—skits, bible stories, & music.
In our group, we acted as the characters in the bible story as Janae and the translator, Larissa, told the story. The acting really seemed to draw the kid’s attention to the story because at the end of each segment we would ask one kid to come on stage and summarize what he/she learned. Amazed barely describes the state we were in when we heard them echo the story right back to us.
Our group also had skits prepared to give the kids a laugh such as the Doctor’s Office skit and two versions of
the Director skit. The kids loved them! On the last day of the VBS, they even voted to have us do the Director skit again.
We also had the privilege to sing songs with the kids and teach them motions that go along with the words. They learned Mighty to Save, Du Fundu, and Le Vem. After learning these songs, the kids invited their parents for the final service where they performed all they learned. It was astonishing to see how much fun the kids had and how much God worked on their lives throughout the
For me personally, this week was amazing. To see God work across language barriers, and to see His love poured out onto children, brought a renewed sense of purpose to my mind. I thank God that I am in Brazil. I also thank God that I am able to be a part of his redemptive plan for all things under the sun, including Brazilian children.
Thank you for your continued support and love.
